We have been set a new unit where we must create a “social” Web based application that addresses a specific “problem” of a target audience. It will be a collaborative project of three web developers. We will all contribute code to a shared online repository using Github and at the end of the projects we will upload it to a shared web server.

Software we will use:
HTML5 and CSS3 will be used for the design front-end and PHP and MySQL database for the applications back-end. The source code for this will be version controlled using Git and will be regularly backed up.

Being aware of the various hardwares used to create and distribute the application may be demonstrated through basic “Responsive Design”. The number of devices, platforms and browsers that need to work with your site/application is growing at an incredible rate. “Responsive Design” is an approach aimed at crafting sites to provide an optimal viewing experience. Don’t you just hate it when you’re trying to view something that you were just viewing on your laptop, but then try to view the same thing on your phone, and you have to keep zooming in and out because the design is not responsive? That is what it does, it fixes that annoying problem. This is achieved through the CSS code when developing the site. It offers: easy reading and navigation with a minimum of resizing, panning, and scrolling.
